Based on the pictures and reviews we booked the two most expensive rooms for me and my husband and our oldest son and her girlfriend. They will pick you up in their boat and bring you to a garage to leave your car ( parking is NOT included). To go anywhere in Atitlan you will have to coordinate with the hotel or if you are fluent in Spanish you will coordinate with the public transportation captain of the boat, since there are no stablished routes to this hotel. Our room (Royal suit)was not bad in general, we had a little living room area where we spent most of the family time together. They give you a bar of soap ( not too eco friendly) toothbrushes and a pack or two of shampoo two in one. The sink is cracked and there is no cover on the shower floor so it looks a little dirty. Our kid room looks good in pictures but when you see the actual rooms you will be super disappointed. The floor creaked and you feel like you will go through any minute. The is no insulation around the structure and no locks on the door. The actual tub is more like a a glorified hole in the rock and the switch is almost hidden in the rocks, there were plants growing on the bare rock. I do understand this is an eco hotel but none of the eco hotels we been are this bare. We requested a better room and they were nice enough to get the Domo Zen ready for us which was so much better. The clean everything with Fabuloso which I can’t stand and me being an eco friendly person myself do not find it eco friendly at all. The hotel does not receive direct sun and it is cold most of the time to do anything in the water. There was no one else at the hotel, we were not surprised because we always plan to be in hotels weekdays to avoid the busiest times. With the prices I am use to have at least one free drink when we get to far away places , a simple glass of cold Jamaica will do it. The menu is limited and not everything is available. The included breakfast is one choice and staying four days is not good enough. Would have been nice to have at least two options. Outdoor tables and chairs in general are not clean. Wherever you look you can tell they are really not passionate about their place. People are nice enough but really made it worst was discovering they are not prepared for the most basic emergency. Our son got food poisoned ( something he ate somewhere else) and had to spend the whole last night throwing up because the emergency kit was not delivered yet to the host Alexis. We were able to leave the place at 8 am to get some medication in the little town we parked Unless you are willing to pay good for very basic do not book here. Their pets are lovely and so are the views but they are not worth what they charge.

This place is absolutely breathtaking!! So beautiful and peaceful. If you are looking for somewhere to get away from the hustle and bustle of the chaos, this sanctuary is the place to go. But the beauty of the resort is only mirrored by the beauty of all of the staff. We received the warmest attention, and VIP treatment. Could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you for making this such a memorable vacation!!

One of the best trips we’ve had in a very long time. The hotel is so peaceful and beautifully breathtaking. Right on the lake and right outside our room we heard the calming waves all night. Mayra who helps run the hotel is so nice and very accommodating. She really went out of her way to make sure our stay was perfect. You will not find nicer people than the staff at the hotel. Very genuine and always there to help. Guatemala is an amazing country and now on my list as a favorite. So much to see and do, especially if you enjoy unique cultures like the Mayan’s. Add this to staying at Kaalpul and you have the perfect vacation to relax while learn a lot about the people and yourself too. I truly will miss this place!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Close to playa San Lucas Toliman The hotel picks you up and drop off in playa toliman. During your stay you will enjoy great service and bask in a romantic and amazing place. Are you ready to exercise without a gym? Enjoy the views while going up and down to get to your room, use the kayaks and relax in the tamascal. Have a massage. Enjoy the sunrise in one of the terraces. Relax and read while sipping a cocktail or have dinner under the sunset

The hotel is accessible only by boat so you are there to relax and enjoy the lake and views. The rooms are beautiful and private. The food is amazing. This hotel is really nice if you want to spend a few days just enjoying some solitude! Grab a book and relax.
