Born in San Marcos La Laguna and a new father as of 2026, M. is a Kaqchikel local who has lived his whole life on the shores of Lake Atitlán.
He writes the things you only know if you grew up here. The cofradía calendar, the rhythm of the ferries, the side of every town tourists rarely see, the families behind the markets, the words and gestures that don't translate.
Outside of writing, M. is most at home around horses, in his community, and with the next generation he is now raising at the lake.
