Who writes this guide

A small team that lives at the lake. Some born here, some who arrived and stayed. We use first initials only. Anonymity is a deliberate editorial choice (see below), but the expertise behind every byline is real, named to us, and accountable.

Why initials

Lake Atitlán is small. Communities here run on relationships, and many of the things we cover (cofradías, ceremony, family-run businesses, sensitive cultural practice) deserve a writer who can keep showing up the next day without their byline trailing behind them. Initials let us write honestly about a place we live in, without turning every chapter into a personal brand. The contributor identities are known internally, are accountable to a real editorial process, and are paid for their work. The names just stay off the masthead. We think the writing is better for it.

How to reach a contributor

You can reach the editorial team through the contact page. If you have a question for a specific writer, say so. We will route it. If you have a correction, we want it: every piece on the site is meant to hold up to the people who actually live in the place being written about.
