Hotel is probably below average other than location, the location is stunning and lovely to sit outside. They won't let you check in before 3pm under any circumstances, we were warned by another guest that they do this to everyone. We checked and our room was empty far before 3pm but they just looked completely uninterested and decided to all have their lunch at the same time instead. Staff are all pretty rude and completely unhelpful the only 2 people who are remotely useful is a 10 year old boy who tries his best and a cleaner who was the only person we actually seen smiling in our full 3 days. Service is horrendous, we got told at 5.30pm we wouldn't be served dinner in our own hotel as there was 6 customers already sat down. Dinner finishes at 7pm and there are around 15 seats available. Nobody even apologised we were just told to go find somewhere else to eat where she pointed up the road and walked off. Also expect to wait at least 30/40 minutes for anything, we ordered 2 cocktails during happy hour which took 35 minutes to come. Only to arrive and taste completely like juice, can't confirm for definite but we were both pretty confident they had near to no alcohol in them. Room is very average, beds are pretty uncomfy dogs are always barking in the morning outside. Didn't really bother me as I'm up early but if you want a lay in would not recommend. Not really worth the money, both the surroundings hostels are much nicer with very friendly staff.

Solid stay. Despite some issues its hard to rate this under a 4. Pros: - The location is great. Right there once you undock at Santa Cruz. - Depending on the casita you have, the views can be amaazing. One of the casitas I noticed that didn't have a view, made up for it by having a fireplace :) - Lady at the front desk when checking in was wonderful. - Nice waterfront property with a dock for swimming (didn't see anyone swimming), great garden, and a restaurant (didn't eat there). + wifi Cons: - I'm not sure what happened in this case, I think the room just may have been sitting for a long time without use? but I went to pour some water from the jug they provide and it was full of ants. I'm talking like 100s of ants. They were all over the table the water/glasses were on. - Slight walk uphill with some stairs to the room. Personally, not a problem. Might be for some people. - Check in was great, but any other time I went into the restaurant/reception, I didn't feel welcome at all. - Noisy at night. Dogs, tuktuks, motos, some music from neighbouring places. Not the worst I've had. Earplugs solve 100%. Overall, great value. If you're looking for a nice private room without breaking the bank - you'll be happy.

I have mixed feelings about our stay here. The woman at the front desk had a stern face the entire time. She looked annoyed at our presence. The older gentleman who showed us our room was smiling and pleasant. The grounds are beautiful and lakeside view is wonderful. There was a candle and matches on the table in our room along with fresh flowers on the table as well as bathroom so they are obviously putting forth effort but the toilet seat appeared to be painted and starting the peel so it looked very unattractive. Small touches can make this hotel great. There was an entire power outage around the lake the entire day so we ate up in Santa Cruz therefore I can’t comment on the onsite restaurant.

Pros: We got upgraded for free and the cabin we got upgraded to had the best views of the lake. It was right in the water. They have a super sweet dog that guards the property at night and added a sense of comfort. The food was really good and it was a well balanced meal. The walk to town is about 15-20mn and they have a couple of food options there as well. The boat people stop by pretty frequently at the dock if you want to visit the other islands. Cons: There is no type of verification at check in and it seems like the people there don’t really know much about what’s going on. The manager runs things behind the scenes but was kind enough to upgrade us when we had a mixup. The card you put on file is never actually charged so you’ll get charged when you check in and you’ll need the physical card or cash. There is a 10% mandatory service fee added to your bill when you order at their restaurant, we didn’t mind because she took her time making our food from scratch and it was well worth the wait. They are generous with their portions as well.

I stayed in a casita which is a private room and I loved it! I could see the sunrise every morning and it was an easy walk to free cerveza for time outside and right next to the lancha. The food was also great and I was able to go to the iguana hostel for meals too with my friends!
