Abeja Obrera in San Juan La Laguna blends a honey bee themed experience with restaurant service, featuring large portions and diverse menu options including wings and barbacoa. However, mixed reviews note overpriced specialty beer and inconsistent food quality relative to pricing and hype.

We were looking for authentic Guatemalan food where the locals eat, and that is what Comedor Elenita is. It was delicious and economical, locals eating here. Simple restaurant but authentic. We enjoyed our meal and the agua de jamaica. If we were staying in the area longer, we would definitely go back. It’s also right by the Calle de los sombreros, so centrally located. Definitely recommend it!

It looks okay from the outside. We got the grilled fish filet, it was okay. However, the steamed veggies, rice and everything else on the plate was not. I recommend walking a bit further when looking for a place. Also a lot of flies.

Quick stop with a local feel -- enjoyed fresh Lake Atitlán fish and a freshly squeezed juice. Simple, tasty, and just right for a short break.

Fried fish and pepìan were really tasty! Cute place with a nice vibe and a nice view on the top floor (terrace). Prices were really reasonable in the center of San Juan!

WHAT TO EXPECT- Guatemalan open plan ground floor restaurant with 15-20 tables. POSITIVES - Menu with English translation. Good range of soft drinks e.g. sodas / juices. Good value for the food. Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner choices. NEGATIVES - Fairly limited menu, probably 10 evening meal choices. Service was pretty slow and inattentive especially at the end when coming to pay. OUR EXPERIENCE- we had the chicken milanese and the fried fish, both came with chips, rice, salad, vegetables and tortillas. The food was good, nothing spectacular but good value. COST / PRICE / PAY- 2 mains, 2 soft drinks was 165Q which seemed reasonable. TOP TIP - soft drinks only, no alcoholic drinks available
