   just spent time at Free Cerveza Hostel and honestly, it was one of the best hostel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the vibe was warm, social, and effortlessly welcoming. The setting is unreal right on the lake,but what really made the stay special was the people, especially Jade, one of the volunteers. She truly went above and beyond in ways that you don’t always see and helped me and chatted to me about some personal issues I had been having. She wasn’t just doing the basics of checking people in or answering questions and made a real effort to connect with guests. If someone needed help planning their next stop, she’d sit down and talk it through. If something wasn’t quite right, she’d sort it out straight away. It never felt forced or like customer service. All the volunteers clearly care about the atmosphere of the place and about people having a good time. That kind of energy makes a huge difference, especially in a social hostel where the experience depends so much on the vibe. Between the beautiful location, the great communal dinners, and volunteers like Jade who really put their heart into it, this place feels special. I came for a couple of nights and ended up staying longer, which probably says everything. Would absolutely come back.

   Our stay at free cervesa was very good! We stayed in a private cabin, the room was very nice. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The activities were a good way to meet with people as well and the food was very tasty. We liked the sustainability the hostel worked to promote too. The bartender/servers we had were Catherine, Tamara and Louis and they were amazing, welcoming and so friendly. They really made us feel at home and they treated you like family. Would recommend staying here to anyone!

   Great vibe, the volunteers are really nice and fun. As some others have mentioned, it is more of a party vibe than we I initially thought, but it was still a great experience. The dock set up is great, the water is incredible. If you're looking for a quiet, restful retreat, maybe not the place for you. But if you want a mix of chill, relaxing sunbathing day time with some fun activities & drinking in the evenings, this place nails it. I will say - their events get a little extra rowdy - we were there on Superbowl Sunday and the party was a bit much.

   Had an incredible stay at Free Cerveza with an unbelievable view of Lake Atitlan and volcanoes. The volunteers were one of the best parts of the hostel with a big shout out to Louis, Georgia and Patryjca for making our time incredible! Only note is that to get free cerveza between 5-6 you need to pay 80 Quetzales for the family dinner, which was great and very tasty.

   Free Cerveza was the best stay of our trip through Guatemala! The location is stunning and it’s the perfect place to relax. The facilities were always super clean and the food was delicious. Loved the family dinner concept, a really great way to socialise with both other guests and the volunteers, and amazing value when considering the hour of free beer included for Q80 per person. There’s also always a morning and evening activity to get involved in which are free, and we enjoyed a morning of paddle boarding which was also free. We stayed in both the shared tipi tents and the lakehouse room - really comfortable beds and again, very clean. Would have happily stayed longer and we’d love to return!
