Kawoq Forest is amazing - paradise! There was excellent communication planning my stay. The staff took a strong interest in making sure that I was comfortable, and they customized my experience carefully after listening to my interests, and they delivered! I can't wait to come back. This place is magical- great food as well. Feels like there is something for everyone here. I chose a variety of treatments and experiences, and they were each unique and good for my soul. I opted for their transportation services as well, and their drivers were on-time and courteous. Overall- magical.

I recently spent a full Personal Yoga Retreat week at Kawoq Forest and I can’t recommend it enough. The setting is beautiful- on the side of a mountain overlooking Lake Atitlan. The cabins are clean and comfortable with gorgeous views of the lake, the outdoor showers look out over mountains and the lake, and the bathrooms are clean and also have amazing views! The food is plentiful and delicious. But it’s the people there- the wellness staff, the management, the kitchen staff, and everyone who makes up the Kawoq Forest team- who make this such a special place. They are kind, welcoming, helpful, and open hearted. I would recommend Kawoq Forest to everyone, and hope to return soon. 🙏💙☀️

This place is absolutely magical! Incredible yoga, sound healing, massages and cacao/fire ceremonies. The space is absolutely gorgeous and serene. The food is amazing and the staff is so helpful. Really hard to get to, probably about a half hour uphill walk from town, but well worth it!

I just hosted a week-long meditation retreat with a group of 10 people. The level of professionalism surpassed all expectations. As a retreat leader, there is much to worry about in order to make sure that the retreat flows with comfort and accommodation for all participants. At the Kawoq Forest, I was able to focus on what I do best while the team took amazing care of us behind the scenes. Days after the retreat, I am still getting messages from participants about how great everything was and how much they loved the retreat center. During our stay, the noise from the town below was a frequent visitor, but somehow it became a part of the local ambiance and did not bother us. For our overall experience, I have one word, impeccable. I look forward to hosting many more retreats here. A huge thanks to everyone at the Kawoq Forest!

I’m writing this review to share my experience as a retreat leader, particularly around trust and integrity. Kawoq is marketed as a quiet, peaceful refuge. While the land itself is beautiful, that promise was not upheld during one of my retreats. Our group was booked during a known annual festival involving cannons, fireworks, and loud music at all hours of the day and night -- information the retreat center was aware of in advance but did not disclose prior to booking. The environment was deeply disruptive to the purpose of the retreat. A partial refund was eventually issued--after much appeal--due to how egregious the situation was. In a separate situation involving a retreat deposit, I experienced the management team as rigid and, more concerningly, inconsistent in how events were later described. Circumstances were framed in ways that did not align with what actually occurred -- including implications that dates had been held for an extended period when I notified the center within days, and a reframing of how the deposit had originally been presented. This left me feeling misled and eroded my trust. Policies are important, but integrity and transparency matter just as much. In my experience, the way this situation was handled felt more focused on protecting an internal narrative than on engaging honestly with the facts or exercising good-faith discretion under extraordinary circumstances. I wish I had allowed the lack of transparency around the festival booking to shape my discernment earlier, rather than moving quickly to forgiveness. Because of these experiences, I do not recommend this retreat facility to other retreat leaders -- particularly those seeking a genuinely quiet environment or a center that operates with flexibility and transparency when unexpected situations arise. If you do choose to book here, I encourage future retreat leaders to ask very explicit questions about surrounding events, noise expectations, and to get all deposit terms and limitations clearly documented before booking.
